Krissy Scurfield grew up playing rugby in the Bow Valley. From high school fields in Canmore, she went on to represent Canada on the world stage, 84 appearances on the World Rugby SVNS circuit, 35 international tries, and an Olympic silver medal at the Paris 2024 Games.
The Rugby Lab is her way of bringing that Olympic level experience back to where it all started. Back to the fields, the mountains, and the community that shaped her, so the next generation of young athletes can access the kind of coaching and development that most kids never get. This isn’t a generic sports camp. The Rugby Lab is built on the belief that every young athlete deserves to be coached by people who’ve been where they dream of going, and who genuinely care about helping them get there!!

More Than a Camp. A Complete Development Experience.
Every day at The Rugby Lab is designed to develop the complete rugby athlete, physically, technically, tactically, and mentally.
Comprehensive Skill Development
Games, contact work, passing, tackling, decision making all appropriate for each age group and skill level. Your child won’t just play rugby, the goal is to understand it!!
Physical Preparation & Conditioning
Rugby specific fitness, speed, agility, and strength work designed for young athletes. Every session builds the physical tools they need on the field!
Mental Performance Coaching
A dedicated mental performance coach presentation to work on focus, confidence, resilience, and competitive mindset, skills that transfer far beyond rugby!
Nutrition Education
Athletes learn how to fuel their bodies properly for training and competition with a nutritionist seminar! Building good habits early makes a lifelong difference.
Position Specific Development
Whether your child plays in the forwards or the backs, (or both) they’ll get focused coaching on the skills their position demands!
Pathway to Club Rugby
Every camper takes home information and registration details for Alberta rugby clubs. The Rugby Lab doesn’t end on Friday, it’s designed to be the start of something bigger!!
Ages 11–12
For athletes new to rugby or in their early years of the game. The focus is on fundamentals, game awareness, coordination, and most importantly falling in love with the sport. No experience needed. If your child is active and curious, this is the perfect place to start!!
Ages 13–15
For players with some experience who want to level up. Deeper tactical understanding, more advanced skill work, increased physical intensity, and the tools to become a more complete player. Ideal for athletes who’ve been playing club or school rugby and are ready to take the next step.
Ages 16–18
For athletes who are ready to train at a high level whether you’ve been playing rugby for years or you’re a competitive athlete from another sport looking for your next challenge. Rugby rewards speed, power, endurance, and mental toughness if that sounds like you, you already have a head start!! This group is built for anyone with the drive and athleticism to compete. No rugby background required just the ambition to push yourself alongside athletes who are chasing provincial, national, and elite-level opportunities.

The Rugby Lab provides a clear development pathway for young athletes from local clubs to high school, to provincial, and beyond. Our goal is to inspire young players to pursue their rugby journey and give them the coaching, confidence, and connections to take the next step.
Krissy walked this exact path. From the Bow Valley to the Olympics. The Rugby Lab exists to show the next generation that the same journey is possible for them and to give them the head start she wished she’d had.
Every camper takes home flyers and registration info for Alberta rugby clubs, making it easy for parents to take the next step and keep the rugby journey going.
